ROLE: STREAMING TECHNICIAN

Part-Time


PURPOSE OF THE POST

Reporting to the Artistic Director and working alongside other members of the overall Accidental team.

The post holder will be responsible for developing, driving & executing the communications & streaming strategy for Accidental.

Including but not limited to: social media content and management; leading the development and execution of the overall streaming plan; researching best practice & up to date streaming & broadcast practices; developing artist, user & audience knowledge bases and filming & recording live events for streaming & broadcast.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Streaming Technician role is initially part-time and designed to be flexible hours. It will suit an inventive and dedicated individual who would like to grow as part of an organisation and team that is also growing.

They will be joining our existing in-house streaming team and lack of streaming knowledge is not a limit as long as the candidate has other areas of experience to offer.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy Development

  • Accidental is a new organisation and is building both new ways of developing it’s artistic work but also new ways of conversing with our audience. The Streaming role will be focused on the technical delivery of our online work but also on the development of how to reach & converse with our audience;

  • This will also include researching best practice examples from around the world, from both inside & outside the artistic field. Beg, borrow & stealing from as many existing practices as will suit our work & methodologies;

  • Developing in-house solutions to both traditional broadcast avenues, social media, event recording, editing as well as inventing new ways to develop a relationship with our audience.

Digital Communications

  • Research & implement new ways of growing the Accidental digital audience, initially on social media and streaming platforms such as Youtube, Twitch & social platforms;

  • Manage our social media platforms, creating regular engaging content and responding to posts in a timely and appropriate manner (including evenings and weekends);

  • Regularly update website content and monitor website performance to ensure it remains at the cutting edge of design and technology, providing a creative and engaging interface with audiences and bookers;

Event Streaming

  • Liaise with artists, stake holders, venues and others around access, rehearsal

  • Video recording, camera work, camera shading/colouring & editing

  • Audio recording, live mixing & editing

  • Video & Audio routing & cabling

  • Networking (navigating complex bandwidth requirements)

Project Recording

  • Video & Audio Recording

  • Editing in multiple editing environments

  • Filmmaking & video design

  • Set dressing & design

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in video production environment

  • Experience of and the ability to demonstrate excellent copywriting, presentational and communication skills

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Experience of working with the video & audio editing

  • Creative flair and a good visual sense

  • Organisational skills and attention to detail

  • The ability to work as part of a team

  • Passion for great brands and great design

  • Degree-level qualification

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of Photoshop, Squarespace, Logic, Final Cut Pro X & DaVinci Resolve

  • Experience of working in the arts industry

  • Experience of managing budgets
