Belfast City Council are preparing the final version of the draft cultural strategy for Belfast 2020-2030

Belfast City Council are preparing the final version of the draft cultural strategy for Belfast 2020-2030, A City Imagining, to present to committee later this month.

“We received over 130 direct responses to the consultation as well as engagement with over 3,000 people. We are grateful for all the feedback and support that we have received. We are keen to update you on the ongoing development of the new cultural investment programme, which is one of the commitments that we made within the cultural strategy.  We have already indicated to you that this will be introduced in stages, the first is to ensure that we have a new form of multi-annual funding in place for April 2020.  There will be significant changes from the current multi-annual programme that supported the previous Cultural Framework for Belfast. The scheme will be open to arts, heritage, event and festival organisations with specific criteria to be published in due course.”

Multi-Annual Funding

The new multi-annual funding programme is due to open in early October 2019, with a closing date in late November.  Once the programme has opened in October, they will be offering one to one advice meetings to those organisations who are interested in applying.  In the meantime, you are invited to attend a session for further information and discussion.

There are three session options to choose from, please click the link to book on to a session:

–          Thursday 22 August, 3.00-5.00pm

–          Thursday 29 August, 10.00am-12.00pm

–          Monday 2 September, 1.00-3.00pm

Project Funding

“We appreciate that multi-annual funding is not the only form of investment required and this scheme will not be the best fit for everyone. In the short term the overall format of Project funding will remain unchanged with a simple update to criteria to replace the themes of the previous Cultural Framework with the themes of the new Strategy. This will allow us to assess the impact of our new multi-annual funding programme before progressing with any redesign of project funding. There will be opportunities to answer queries at the sessions but if you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us directly.”
