Since 1921, Belfast Music Society has promoted world-class chamber music concerts in Northern Ireland’s capital city. The roll call of artists includes pianists Vladimir Ashkenazy and Wilhelm Kempff, the legendary contralto Kathleen Ferrier and more recently, the superstar violinist of her era, Nicola Benedetti. Concerts from their annual International Festival of Chamber Music are regularly broadcast by their partner, BBC Radio 3.
BMS’s annual Northern Lights Mini-Fest also gives young, outstanding Northern Ireland artists regular recital opportunities. The very successful Chamber Babies concert series provides an introduction to music from a very early age, as well as providing a quality, tailor-made musical experience for parents and carers! And the innovative Night Music series with partners Moving On Music provides a platform for the very best composers from the island of Ireland.
You would be joining them at a time when exciting plans are being made for their centenary in 2021, which will be the springboard for even more chamber music provision in the years to come.
Currently, the specialist roles of Treasurer and Secretary are available; they also welcome applications from any BMS supporter or Friend interested in chamber music who would like to play a part on the Board, especially those with skills and knowledge in the areas of PR/Marketing and/or familiarity with Social Media.
