CircusDanceFestival is seeking original short pieces from the circus and dance field for a 360° audience on an outdoor stage. Solo or duo work, in the air or on the floor, lasting up to 15 minutes are accepted.
Successful submissions will participate in the 360° shorts format at CircusDanceFestival in Cologne, Germany, 6–8 June 2025. There will be up to four different pieces each day. CircusDanceFestival invites 10–12 pieces selected from the application call.
The basic requirements are the following:
- The work is for a 360° audience
- It is a short work – maximum 15 minutes
- The piece fits well for an outdoor stage in a daylight situation
- It is not a work-in-progress
- It is a solo or a duo
- It does not require extensive technical support
Applicants can be an established or a young artist, a late-career changer or a cross-disciplinary artist. The work can be funny, smart, contemplative, queer, poetic, or critical. Applicants still pursuing a Bachelor’s degree formation are not eligible to apply. Applications by women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and people with disability or a refugee or migration background are explicitly welcome.
Each participating performer receives a net fee of 400 EUR. A duo work receives a fee of 800 EUR. Additionally, travelling expenses, accommodation and meals are covered. Free tickets for the other shows will be provided.
