The Hokuriku Region Dance Festival 2025 is an Artist-in-Residence (AIR) programme, running from 14 to 22 July 2025. This initiative supports artists from various fields of art to stay in the Hokuriku region, engage with local residents, and provide them with new discoveries, inspiration, and opportunities for interaction through their art.

This year, the programme plans to have the selected artists stay in the Noto region, a disaster-affected area. They are seeking 1 to 2 artists interested in participating in this AIR, which also serves as a support initiative for the area’s recovery.

The selected artists will actively engage with the community, creating and showcasing activities and artworks that could only emerge from this location, contributing to both societal and disaster recovery efforts.

The call is for artists engaged in expressive activities. Although the primary focus is on contemporary dance, applications from all genres including visual arts, film, music, photography, performance, literature, traditional crafts, cuisine, etc., are welcome.

There are no age, gender, or nationality restrictions, but the artists must be able to communicate in Japanese. If a longer stay is required for work creation, it can be discussed.

The residency provides a private house in Noto Town, HĹŤsu District, transportation expenses (up to 30,000 JPY), stipend of 24,000 JPY (3,000 JPY/day for 8 days), technical support (lighting, sound, etc.) for on-site performances, a complimentary video recording of the on-site performance, one supporting artist to accompany the AIR.

Deadline: 28 February 2025
