A practical 5-week online course designed to demystify international touring.
During each 2-hour workshop, you will work in small groups to research and plan an international presentation, gaining an insight into the practicalities needed to work in different countries.
Course outline:
- Week 1 – Tuesday 4 March – Building international relationships
- Week 2 – Tuesday 11 March – Cultural context
- Week 3 – Tuesday 18 March – Planning, research & timelines
- Week 4 – Tuesday 25 March – Budgeting, fees & contracts
- Week 5 – Tuesday 1 April – Troubleshooting
Please note: There will be a small amount of prep (no more than 60-minutes) to do between some sessions. Downloadable resources and templates will accompany the course.
The sessions will be led by Hannah Slimmon, Senior Producer: International at FABRIC. Hannah leads on international relationships and touring for the Here & Now Showcase and has over 10 years’ experience of touring work internationally. She previously led the caravan international programme at Farnham Maltings and has worked as a producer for Fuel, Artsadmin and LIFT. Alongside Hannah, an experienced guest producer will co-lead each session, offering examples of their real-life touring experiences and feeding back on your course work.
To get the most from this course you must:
- Be a producer (employed or self-employed) or self-producing artist
- Have at least 3-years’ professional experience of touring work in the UK
- Complete a short eligibility questionnaire
- No experience of international touring work is required.
Pricing:
- Salaried Producers £200.00
- Freelancers £150.00
Bursaries
There are also 3 bursaries available for freelance producers and/or self-producing artists to join the course for free. The bursaries are intended to increase access to this course.
