The Culture and Tourism team plays a pivotal and strategic role in the promotion of Belfast’s arts, tourism and cultural assets. The council is seeking to appoint a number of key posts within the team.

Senior Manager – Culture and Tourism

(Fixed term contract until 31 March 2025, subject to review)

£60,584 – £63,818 per annum

You will manage the development and delivery of the cultural, tourism, heritage and events strategy and associated delivery function that contributes to the sustainable growth, investment and prosperity of the city.

You will enhance the cultural impact of the city through effective engagement with key internal and external stakeholders and the ongoing development of strategic partnerships on a range of levels.

You will also manage the development of a new integrated approach to developing and shaping the city’s cultural, events, festivals and tourism offering which contributes to the delivery of the strategic priorities and targets articulated within the Belfast Agenda.

Partnership Officer

Permanent post

£41,881 – £44,863 per annum

You will use financial and commercial acumen to identify, assess and secure external sources of funding to support the long-term aims, objectives and activities of the Cultural Strategy and key priority initiatives, in particular the 2023/24 programme.

You will successfully explore, identify and secure commercial sponsorship opportunities to maximise revenue opportunities and ensure the successful delivery of the Cultural Strategy.

You will identify, establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders and partners, ensuring a collaborative and coordinated approach to the delivery of the Cultural Strategy.

You will manage new and existing partnership arrangements and ensure that effective contract management principles are established and adhered to in order to provide assurance on the effective delivery of key targets and objectives.

Tourism Development Officer

Permanent post

£35,745 – £38,890 per annum

You will develop, lead and implement specific tourism development projects in support of the overall delivery of the Tourism and Events Strategy, in order to grow the council’s tourism product, enhance the tourism experience and deliver sustainable economic benefit.

You will develop and maintain effective partnerships with other organisations in both the public and private sectors to ensure a strategic and coordinated approach to tourism development in the city.

You will also contribute to the development of a range of targeted tourism initiatives and ensuring the delivery of these, engaging with and working closely with key internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.

Events Development Officer

Two permanent posts and two fixed term contracts for three years, subject to review

£35,745 – £38,890 per annum

You will assist with the research, planning, organising and marketing necessary for all major events and festivals, and in the development of the range and quality of the city events programme in support of the ambitions of the Tourism and Cultural strategies.

You will contribute to the delivery of major events and festivals and assist with the development and management of events that will help raise the profile of Belfast on a global stage and establish the city as an attractive events destination. You will assume the role of Event Controller and assisting in all legal, health and safety, marketing, financial and administrative aspects of the Events programme.

You will effectively develop and manage a range of partnerships with other organisations in both the public and private sectors to ensure a strategic and coordinated approach to the planning, delivery and implementation of a range of major public events for Belfast.
