The Lyric Theatre and Future Screens NI are inviting expressions of interest from individual theatre makers or theatre/artist-led collectives to develop live theatrical work which places the imaginative use of technology at the heart of its storytelling and performance.
Theatre is a live, communal experience and one we’re all desperately missing at the moment. However, due to the resilience, creativity, and ingenuity of theatre makers, we’ve found new and innovative modes of expression to tell stories, connect with audiences, and to recreate the collective experience – albeit at a distance.
Theatre makers have embraced both technology and digital platforms to create imaginative, cross-disciplinary work and to connect with new audiences. It has opened up opportunities to develop our practices and processes to create hybrid work which nevertheless has the collective experience of live theatre at its heart.
We’re looking for ideas which explore this relationship between live theatre, technology, and digital spaces and will commission up to five ideas to undergo first stage development.
