Dance Limerick with the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance at the University of Limerick launches Compass, an Associate Artist Initiative for dance artists based in Ireland. Compass is tailored to the needs of the artist. It aims to support the artistic practice and career progression of a dance artist through resources and cultivating a relationship with Limerick’s scene and spaces. The Compass 2024 Associate Artist will commence in Autumn 2024 and last for up to one year. The Compass Associate Artist will stimulate collaboration and dialogue between the artist and organisations to advance dance questions together and independently.
This opportunity is open to:
- Irish-based professional dance artists, choreographers, companies or collectives across career stages.
- Those with at least 3 years professional dance experience and who have presented minimum one work at a professional venue or festival.
- Those with a funded or unfunded project/idea
Benefits for artists:
The Compass Associate Artist Programme is customised to meet the specific needs of each artist, with discussions held once the artist is selected. The list provided here is not exhaustive, and certain benefits may be more or less relevant depending on the applicant.
- A Research & Development fund of €7,000 towards the creation of a new work to be presented at Dance Limerick, eg at What Next Festival.
- Up to four weeks free studio space at Dance Limerick and hot desk office space as needed.
- One week at the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance for the purpose of developing research ideas with the MA Contemporary Dance Performance students.
- Opportunities to share research and receive feedback.
- Artistic coaching / support from Dance Limerick’s Director and Irish World Academy of Music & Dance faculty of dance, if desired. Coaching / support with writing about your work, for application, presentation and proposal purposes.
- Representation and support in seeking opportunities for presenting your work and practice nationally and internationally, if desired.
- Visibility and profile within Dance Limerick’s website, social media channels and networks.
