About The Playhouse

The Playhouse is one of Ireland’s most creative and dynamic arts centres. From ground-breaking theatre production to engaging and innovative community arts, the Playhouse’s iconic red doors are open to all.

Located by Derry’s historic walls, the Playhouse, comprises a 150 seat theatre, an extensive education and outreach department, a dance studio, a galley and is home to many cultural or arts-based groups.

Whether you are an experienced Board Member or you want to take your first step at Board level, The Playhouse want to hear from you.

They are especially interested in hearing from people with skills in the following areas:

  • Human Resources
  • Finance
  • Child Protection
  • Law
  • Fundraising
  • Social/Digital media

As a Board Member you will have:

  • Induction training
  • Opportunities to make strategic decisions to develop new skills
  • Opportunities to network with external groups and attend our events
  • Influence to enhance the community arts scene
  • Make a contribution to improve the health & wellbeing or people in the community through the arts

Expected Time Commitment:

  • Board members are expected to attend bi-monthly meetings and play an active role in at least one sub-committee.

They welcome applicants from all sections of the community, in particular applicants from young people and under-represented groups
