At Theatre and Dance NI, we aspire to create a more diverse industry which is fully inclusive and enriched by ambition, professionalism and, most of all, creative collaboration. Northern Ireland already has a great reputation for producing fantastic events within theatre, dance and other areas, but our goal is to build upon this and elevate the industry to another level.
That’s why our merger in 2020 – when Theatre NI fused with Dance Resource Base – is so significant, because we believe that working together is the best way to achieve our aims. And from this strong foundation, we can build a healthier and more vibrant performing arts community – one which is valued and acknowledged as being a key contributor to society.
As Northern Ireland’s leading support organisation for the sector, we’re here to ensure that the theatre and dance industry continues to thrive – now and in the future – and we look forward to welcoming you on board!
Putting art at the heart of the community
At the core of Theatre and Dance NI is a strong community spirit, which is why we’re a membership organisation. We offer a wide range of professional support to those who join us via our Membership Assistance Programme, which includes confidential counselling – something we are very proud to provide. We also advocate and lobby on behalf of the theatre and dance sector, to highlight its vital role in society and to place artistic practice at the centre of community life.
We achieve our aims through:
- Artist and company skills development
- Professional partnerships
- A programme of bursaries, skills development training, masterclasses, residencies and delivery of major projects
Working with our members and partners, we strive to create a community of ambition which embrace innovation, while championing the sector not just locally, but internationally. We’ve set our sights high. Will you join us?
Theatre and Dance NI is governed by a board of non-executive directors. Find out more about who we are.
