Work is now starting on developing Sustainable Buildings and we have extended the deadline to Friday 23rd April for theatre owners and operators to complete the Green Book – Theatre Buildings – Survey. This information will help us understand the current status and future priorities for making theatre buildings more sustainable.

The Theatre Green Book, a theatre sector-wide partnership spearheaded by the Theatres Trust and the Association of British Theatre Technicians is bringing together theatre-makers and sustainability experts to create a common standard for making theatre sustainably. They have support from all the major theatre sector and culture sector sustainability umbrella bodies.

The Theatre Green Book will have three volumes:

  1. Sustainable Productions
  2. Sustainable Buildings
  3. Sustainable Operation

Sustainable Productions is available now in a beta version for trialling and can be found here https://theatregreenbook.com . Theatre-makers on all scales and contexts are invited to start working with it as they plan for reopening shows. We encourage you to read it, try implementing some of the practices within your organisations and give feedback in the surveys below.

In addition to this, seminars are also being run, via Zoom, by Theatres Trust to help companies who are thinking of using the Green Book for Productions, particularly post-lockdown. They are on:
