Arts Care is the leading regional Arts, Health and Well-being Organisation based in Northern Ireland. Initiated in 1991 by the then Department of Health, the organisation delivers a wide range of innovative and impactful participatory arts projects, arts events, performances and exhibitions into the heart of Health, Social and Community Care Services in Northern Ireland.

Arts Care’s mission is to enable people in health and social care to transform their lives through participation in creative activities. Their aim is to enhance the quality of the service users, staff and the community’s experience of healthcare through participation in and access to quality Arts engagement.

They operate an Arts Care Centre in Belfast with performance spaces, music and dance studios and gallery space. For their core business they engage a network of ‘Artists in Residence’ and ‘Clown Doctors’ commissioned by the 5 HSC Trusts. They also have a pool of Project Artists engaged on additional Projects across NI as requested and commissioned by a range of agencies such as Councils, Community Groups, and other Charities. They are keen to grow this activity significantly in the coming years to reach more people and improve their financial sustainability.
