‘The Revolution’s Promise’ is a cross-cultural collaboration inviting local Derry actors, students and activists to join us in a two day workshop exploring the rights of Palestinian artists. The workshop will accumulate in a public reading at Echo Echo Dance Theatre Studio accompanied by a discussion led by The Freedom Theatre from Jenin Refugee Camp, Palestine.
‘The Revolution’s Promise’ is an epic journey through the personal stories and creative legacies of leading artists from Palestine. Created from interviews with filmmakers, poets, circus performers, cartoonists and actors it explores their inspiration, drive and ambitions as well as the brutal repercussions and censorship these artists have faced, including arrest, imprisonment and murder.
‘As our borders become harder to cross, our funding removed, and censorship of our voices continues, it is crucial that as Palestinian artists we find new ways to mobilise. Which is why this collaboration with Sole Purpose Productions in Derry is essential to making sure our voice is heard internationally’ – The Freedom Theatre
The workshops will be 15/16 Feb, Rehearsed Reading will be 16th Feb 6pm at Echo Echo venue.
We ask workshop participants be comfortable reading script in public. No previous knowledge of Palestine is needed, for further information on the project and to familiarise yourself with our values and principles www.therevolutionspromise.com
The project is created by The Freedom Theatre and Creative Destruction.
