Dance Ireland’s Producer in Residence Programme, led by international dance and theatre producer Gwen Van Spijk, is now in its third year. The programme aims to explore producing culture within the dance ecology in Ireland, connect dance artists and producers, and provide opportunities to develop skills in practical aspects of self-producing for artists.

As part of this, we are now inviting expressions of interest for the EVOLVE Producing programme. We are inviting artist and producer teams who are already working together or who have an interest in working together to apply for the programme together with individual artists and producers who are looking to establish a relationship.

This is an in–depth professional development opportunity that will provide bespoke guidance, advice and mentoring to dance artists and their producers. It will support participants to develop and deliver new projects, increase their understanding of the producing process and can support the initiation and development of artist/producer relationships.

The programme will consist of a series of monthly working-group sessions to help problem solve and tackle different aspects of producing dance work, including guidance and information from professionals and experts working in the sector. You will be given materials to support the progression of work between group sessions.

At the end of the programme, together with having progressed your project plans you will have acquired new skills and knowledge to apply to future projects.

In expressing an interest you should:

  • have the experience of realising at least one public-facing project with funding from the Arts Council/Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
  • have a specific project in mind to work on during the scheme; this can be at any point in its development, e.g., seeking funding and support, research and development, preparing for production etc.
  • be able to commit to attending a monthly working group session between June and October 2022
  • be able to commit to progressing the work between sessions

Closing date for receipt of submissions is Friday 13 May at 12 noon
