Belfast City Council and the Arts Council NI are conducting a research survey that will explore the current and future requirements of artist studios and workspaces in Belfast. The insights gathered from the research will be used to influence the future development of artist workspace provision across the city. The research project consists of a survey with the local arts community and a workshop on Wednesday 26th April 2023.
“We would like to hear your opinion on the optimum artist environment, your understanding of the quality and demand for spaces to date, and your ideas on the future of artist workspaces.
The range of art disciplines in Belfast is constantly evolving and this has resulted in a need to futureproof emerging new spaces. Therefore, to inform future development proposals, we want to assess the optimal working environments for artists to ensure the city has sufficient fit-for-purpose workspaces that meet the current and future needs of the sector.”
Research Survey
Belfast City Council is undertaking further study into artist studio space in the city, to help shape future artist studio and creative workspace development. We are asking you to share your experience and ideas by completing a short survey (15-20 minutes) at www.belfastartiststudios.com.

There will also be hosting a workshop to further explore themes emerging from the survey. The session will take place on Wednesday 26th April 2023 from 9.30am – 11am at 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast.
