SUPPORTING AND PROMOTING THE WORK OFÂ OVER 40Â MIGRANT ARTISTS ACROSS THE UK
PROJEKT EUROPA is thrilled to announce our 2022 programme of work – three separate projects that really embody our ambition to amplify international voices and champion migrant artists and communities across the country.
In partnership with The Marlowe Theatre, Royal & Derngate, Rose Theatre and Mercury Theatre, as well as with 10 senior first generation migrant theatre makers, we want to inspire and embolden professional and non-professional artists, creating new local and national communities of migrant theatre makers.
PROJEKT EMPOWER is a 5-month mentorship programme designed to build a community of support and inspiration for emerging first generation migrant theatre makers. We’re looking for 10 artists who will be mentored by a truly brilliant gang of senior migrant talent: Omar Elerian, Mehmet Ergen, Anna Fleischle, Kaisa Hammarlund, Thusitha Jayasundera, Arinzé Kene, Ingrid Mackinnon, Lucian Msamati, Hyemi Shin and Caroline Steinbeis.
The callout for mentees is open to emerging theatre makers based in the UK and it goes live TODAY! Head over here to find out more about how to apply – the deadline for applications is 6pm on Monday 14 February.
PROJEKT ELEVATE will commission 9 migrant artists to develop ideas for co-created work for their own communities, in collaboration with our brilliant partner theatres – Mercury Theatre, Rose Theatre and Royal & Derngate. PROJEKT EUROPA will support the artists to develop bold and ambitious ideas for co-created work. Interested? Applications for these commissions open on Monday 7 February – more information about those here!
We are continuing to build our relationship with the local migrant communities in Canterbury. With PROJEKT ENCOUNTER we’ll be running a five-month programme of weekly workshops at The Marlowe Theatre with the aim of building an informal community ensemble in the heart of Kent. We’re so looking forward to reconnecting with the people who helped us make WE ARE THE STORIES – read more about how to join these free workshops here.
We are so excited to launch these three projects and to continue exploring what it means to make theatre from an international perspective – come join us!
