The Leadership Academy is a 5 day residential course in North Yorkshire run by Slung Low, exploring values based leadership through outdoor activity, visiting guests and adventure training.
The residential is an intense week designed to expand the participants both physically and mentally, a combination of discussion and adventure training.
The course will look at types of leadership, different ways of leading and making change in the world, as well as best practice from within and beyond the world of the arts. Alongside this programme will be a series of outdoor activities designed to stretch the participants mentally and physically. Outdoor and adventure training is an important part of personal development and this residential foregrounds this alongside discussion and reading.
There will be 4 different cohorts of this programme over two years thanks to support from Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
They are particularly keen with this cohort to hear from mid-career arts professionals and artists.
Who Is It For?
It’s for people working in the arts in some form. This is not an opportunity for people in the very first parts of their careers or participants from the community- Slung Low does other programmes and activities that will be more useful to you.
But it might for someone in the arts who doesn’t  think themselves in a leadership role currently- an actor or designer or stage manager for example who is thinking about taking on more leadership responsibilities.
Or someone already in a leading role but who is feeling a bit stuck, looking for fresh inspiration or a new approach. The most important thing- no matter what your current role or why you are approaching this residential- is that you are interested in developing yourself and your leadership, and interested in exploring values based leadership.
The course is designed to adapt to all participants.
