What is the The Tyrone Guthrie Centre McB Dance Bursary?

The Tyrone Guthrie Centre McB Dance Bursary offers an opportunity for a professional dance artist or choreographer to undertake a two-week residency in The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig to spend time to focus on the development of a new performance. In addition to full board and lodging the bursary holder will have 24 hour access to the dance studio. The bursary is funded by an anonymous patron of The Tyrone Guthrie Centre.

In 2022 Dance Ireland is partnering with The Tyrone Guthrie Centre to support an artist who may otherwise be unable to participate in this opportunity with an access bursary of €500.

Who is this for?

Dance Ireland are inviting applications from professional choreographers and dance artists from under-represented communities in Ireland working in any dance genre. You do not have to be a member of Dance Ireland to avail of this opportunity, however, you must have a track record as a dance maker (minimum of 1 professionally presented work), and/or demonstrate that you are at a particularly crucial stage in your development as a dance maker.

  • You should be resident on the island of Ireland.
  • The successful recipient must be willing to share their research and experience with Tyrone Guthrie Centre in a mutually agreed format
  • Any future works arising out of this residency will acknowledge the support of the McB Bursary and The Tyrone Guthrie Centre.
  • The residency must take place within a 12 month period from receipt of the bursary.

Assessment Process

Deadline for receipt of applications and supporting materials is Wednesday 25 May at 5pm. is Decisions will be communicated by 16 June.
