From the team that brought you Miss Saigon® School Edition, Bugsy Malone, The Wizard of Oz and Oliver!, the Grand Opera House Trust presents a sparkling new production of The Pirates of Penzance for its 2022 Summer Youth Production.
Over 100 young people from across Northern Ireland will have the opportunity of singing, dancing and acting their way through the most energetic, funny and accessible of all the Gilbert and Sullivan titles.
To celebrate the Summer Youth Production’s 10th anniversary, they are thrilled that those joining our merry band of pirates, policemen and spirited daughters of the Major General are going to be part of what promises to be an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza of exuberance only young people can deliver.
Join them as they ‘swash’ their ‘buckles’ this summer on the iconic stage of the beautifully restored Grand Opera House – an experience not to be missed!
The Pirates of Penzance is open to 10 through to 18-year-olds. The project will run from Sunday 10th to Sunday 24th July 2022 inclusive. Successful cast members must be available to attend every day. Additional rehearsals will also take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July 2022 for principals.
The cost to participate is £200 per person, 50% of the fee is required as a non-refundable deposit after the auditions are completed and the remaining balance paid no later than Friday 20 May 2022.
Auditions
First stage auditions for The Pirates of Penzance will take place at the Grand Opera House on Sunday 6th March 2022. Call back auditions will take place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March 2022. Due to the demands of auditioning large numbers it is not possible to accommodate auditions at any other time.
