“The only way to do it is to do it.” ― Merce Cunningham
On Monday 9th May Dance Ireland launched their new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Strategy.
“Over the past two years we have spent time looking within Dance Ireland – our strategy, our programme, our team, our networks – identifying how we can authentically commit to change, and to ensure equality of access, diversity of participation, and a broad geographic reach in our programmes. We haven’t done this alone. This policy and strategy were developed in consultation with Mercy Nabirye of Kauma Arts, and with the support of the artists we have invited to lead us in curating programmes and projects that opened up the conversation. And the conversation is ongoing.
This policy also shares the three principles that will inform our next strategy development period commencing later this year: Sustainability, Interdependence, and Inclusion.
This is a living document. Dance Ireland is a work in progress, with a long way to go to achieve our vision for equality, diversity, and inclusion in our organisation. Working with our Members, the wider arts and cultural community, the public and other stakeholders, we will continue to invest, to learn, and to act.”
