Galway Dance Project, in partnership with the Town Hall Theatre, Mick Lally Theatre, Galway City and County Councils and the Arts Council is delighted to announce an open call for 8 funded residencies in Galway city in 2023.
These residencies are open to dance artists at any stage of their practice. We have one funded residency for a Galway city based artist and one funded residency for a Galway county based artist. The other 6 residencies are open to all dance artists living, working, from or with a connection to the island of Ireland.
The Space:
Galway Dance Project have two spaces available, at the Town Hall Theatre Studio and at Terryland, Galway.
Access to the Town Hall Studio space is Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm. Access to the Galway Dance Project Space can be more flexible.
The Galway Dance Project space at Terryland is fully accessible.
We will work with artists to ensure that the space allocated is the one most suitable for their needs.
What do artists get?
Residencies are 2 weeks long and take place in the Town Hall Theatre Studio or in Galway Dance Project’s Studio in Terryland, Galway.
Residencies are funded with a €1,000 stipend, along with support, advice, networking and mentoring from Galway Dance Project.
Residencies will be tailored to artists needs and managed in a bespoke way, so as to maximise the benefit to the artists. Galway Dance Project can facilitate sharings/showings/recordings of work, but these residencies are not focused on outcome. As well as providing space for dance artists to develop and create work, they are also designed to network artists with local supports and infrastructure, as well as providing networking opportunities with local/regional artists.
Groups/collectives can be accommodated, however the stipend would then have to be divided among the participating artists. Accommodation is not included, but Galway Dance Project can assist in finding affordable accommodation if required.
