University of Atypical are back with the third round of their Introduction to British Sign Language Course.
Join them for a six-week course teaching you the basics of British Sign Language (BSL). They’re offering learning in a casual and relaxed environment to pick up basic conversational skills in BSL.
Dates: Every Tuesday from November 12 to December 17. Six sessions.

What will you do during the classes?
This course will teach you the foundations of British Sign Language and is a great place to build confidence. You can expect to learn:
- Finger-spelling with the BSL alphabet.
- BSL structures, syntax, and grammar.
- Useful signs for use in work and in public places.
- An introduction to d/Deaf culture.
Who is it for?
These classes are designed for anyone with little or no prior experience, and anyone with an interest in British Sign Language, the d/Deaf community, and d/Deaf culture.
What do you need to bring?
Nothing! Just yourself and a willingness for hands-on learning.
Meet Your Instructor
This course will be taught by Paula Clarke. Paula is a Deaf artist, performer, tutor, and broadcaster. She has worked as a Deaf actor with Amanda Coogan, delivered Deaf information cultural broadcasts through SIGNify Media, provides tutoring in BSL and Deaf Awareness and works as a BSL broadcaster on the BBC.
