South Dublin County Council would like to invite expressions of interest for a Dance Coordinator who will devise and implement a youth dance programme for South Dublin County Council
Those who submit an expression of interest will then be invited to submit proposals on E-Tenders with the support of the Arts Office.
Background
South Dublin has one of the youngest populations in Ireland, with over 35% if the population children and young people, higher than both the state average and the Dublin average. It also has one of the most diverse areas in Ireland, with over 93 nationalities living here and over 17.5% of the overall population born outside of Ireland. These factors make South Dublin a very vibrant place right now.
South Dublin County Council has a strong background in Youth Dance programmes. Dance artist residencies, SDCC’s NOISEmoves youth dance festival, and Emergence, a choreographic mentoring programme, created opportunities for young people to engage with Dance practice. The Dance programme paused in 2022 when a review of the programme took place. SDCC is now looking to reestablish a dance programme in the county.
The ideal Dance Coordinator will have a strong background in dance programme development and management, with the ability to oversee, coordinate and devise various dance programs and activities. They will bring a vision for dance to the county and will be expected to foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and growth in dance.
The Dance Coordinator will have a deep understanding of different dance styles and techniques and will have a relevant qualification and/ or experience in coordinating and implementing dance programmes. They will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with excellent organisational and time management skills.
This initial contract is for the development phase of a youth dance programme working towards starting the programme in Spring / Summer 2025. The Arts Office is open to one Dance Coordinator or a team/collective.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The primary aim is to develop a sustainable youth dance programme for South Dublin County with the South Dublin County Council Arts Office.
- To offer opportunities for participation in Youth Dance through accessible high quality programme provision as a means of empowering young people to express themselves creatively, improve their quality of life and bring about positive changes in their physical, mental and social wellbeing.
- The successful applicant/s will plan and prepare an annual work plan for a youth dance programme in South Dublin County Council. We are open to innovative approaches to running a youth dance programme.
- The successful applicant will plan to deliver and evaluate a youth dance programme in 2025, and they will manage (with support from South Dublin Arts Office) the dance schedule, recruitment of dancers, work with the arts office on budgets for the programme, maintain accurate records of young people in attendance and undertake evaluation of the new programme.
- The successful applicant should be aware of development in dance across the island of Ireland, staying current with trends and developments in the dance industry. They will work to position South Dublin County in the Irish Dance scene.
Expression of Interest
In your expression of interest, please outline your qualifications for the role; – We are looking for someone who has experience of dance program design and coordination or management, with a strong knowledge of various dance styles and techniques, along with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of young people. Please outline what approach you would take to designing and implanting a dance programme.
