Artist Call Out for British Council funded, International Collaborative Correspondence Project in 2022.

Pen Pals Connected; an artist-led collaborative correspondence project from disability and Deaf arts organisation, DaDa, in partnership with the British Council

Disabled, Deaf and neurodivergent artists in Nigeria, Indonesia and the UK will share thoughts, feelings and ideas about their practice, whilst also learning from one another – and applications are now open to join the UK cohort!

Who are they looking for?

DaDa is looking for three UK-based disabled, Deaf, or neurodivergent artists to join this international collaborative project.

They would like to hear from artists who are keen to share their thoughts, feelings and ideas about their own practice and are interested in learning from other artists in our partner countries about their lives and work.

How will the project work?

If you are selected, you will be matched with one Indonesian artist and one Nigerian artist and begin a digital correspondence in a format, or formats that suit your needs, about your life, your work and… well… wherever the conversation takes you.

This is an artist-led project and there is no expectation to produce a finished artwork. You will establish a regular and accessible digital communication channel within your group and you will meet as a group of nine artists online monthly to check in and share what you are working on. The focus is on sharing and learning. All artists will be able to participate in a series of ‘boot camp’ / introduction to workshops in areas such as creative access and equality awareness training.

There will be an opportunity to share elements of your digital correspondence project, or a collaborative digital work as part of each partner organisation’s festival or event in December 2022.

Fee:
up to ÂŁ3000 per artist

Deadline:
30 March 2022 at 5pm
