Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by “Open Meeting” – is this an audition for an upcoming production at the Globe?
This isn’t an audition for a specific show – it’s a general meeting with our Head of Casting and at least one director where you will have a chance to chat to and/or perform a monologue or a short scene.

What will I have to prepare for the meeting?
You may use the time just to have a chat with our casting team, however we encourage you to prepare a short monologue or scene from a piece of work to see you in action. This doesn’t have to be from Shakespeare’s canon.

How does it work?
We plan on running open meetings on a monthly basis. Applications will open for a week at the start of each month and meetings will normally happen in the last week of each month. Once applications have closed, our casting team will review them to shortlist successful applicants to meet. We’ll contact successful applicants by email at least a week before the meeting date to confirm timings and location. For specific dates for each month, please see above.

How do I apply?
When applications open for each month, an ‘apply now’ button will be available on this page. You’ll be taken to a short form to fill out where you can provide your details plus any access requirements you have. If applications are not currently open, you can view future dates above.

What do you mean by professional actor?
Someone who has graduated from an accredited drama school or has 2 professional speaking credits.

Do I need an agent to apply?
No. We are happy to meet professional actors regardless of whether they have an agent or not.

I don’t have a Spotlight Profile or equivalent, does that matter?
No, a Spotlight membership or other profile are not required.

What if I have access requirements?
We welcome you to note any access requirements on the online application form.

If I’m successful, when will I get the details?
You will be emailed a week in advance with details of the meeting including time, location and who will be at the meeting.

Where will the meeting take place?
At Shakespeare’s Globe or a nearby space in SE1, Bankside

Are applications open to the UK / Ireland / Rest of the World?
Applications are open to actors who have a right to work in the UK.

Can you guarantee that I’ll secure a meeting?
We predict that this process will be popular and therefore can’t guarantee that everyone will be seen. Due to expected volume of applications, we also cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to contact all unsuccessful candidates but welcome them to apply again each month.

If I don’t get through one month, can I apply again?
Yes, you’re very welcome to. There isn’t a limit on the number of times you apply.

How will my information be used / stored?
Your data will be processed in line with our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions regarding our use of your data, or would like to request that we delete the personal data we hold on you, please  email us.
