Dance Ireland and Age & Opportunity, in consultation with Dance Theatre of Irelandpresent The Floor is Yours! a networking event for dance artists, companies and organisations working with older people; which aims to strengthen and connect the sector. The event offers workshops, discussions and presentations from those working in the field nationally

Schedule Overview 
10am: Welcome: Tea & Coffee reception in Dance Ireland Foyer

SESSION 1: PHYSICAL PRACTICE FOR COMMUNITY & CARE SETTINGS
10.30 – 11.30am
Practical session, hosted by Robert Connor from Dance Theatre of Ireland with dance artists Helga Deasy and Olwyn Lyons. The purpose of this session is to share creative ideas and approaches, and to demonstrate how these ideas are adaptive and adaptable in either Community settings or Care settings…ideas to add to your dance toolbox. Clear a space and join in!

SESSION 2: THE CULTURE OF CARE
11:30am – 12.30pm
This panel discussion, chaired by Robert Connor, Co-Artistic Director, Dance Theatre of Ireland, invites Care Settings Managers, Siobhan Grant and Shann Morris to share perspectives and learning on the development of dance programmes in care settings. Followed by Q&A.

SESSION 3: THE ROLE OF THE ARTIST IN COLLABORATIVE & PARTICIPATORY PRACTICE
12:30 – 1.15pm
Artists John Conway and Aoife McAtamney discuss the challenges of how your artistic practice evolves when working in different community and participatory contexts; and how to open up to the expertise and experience of others with artistic integrity. Chaired by Louise Costelloe, Programme Producer, Dance Ireland.

SESSION 4: RESOURCING YOUR PRACTICE
2:00 – 2:45pm
Discussion and Q&A focusing on funding and building networks around your practice, chaired by Age & Opportunity Arts Programme Manager, Tara Byrne, with Principal Community Worker, Cork South Community Work Department, Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, Eleanor Moore and local authority arts officer Máire Davey (Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Arts Office)

SESSION 5: A COMMUNITY OF CARE, ADVOCATING FOR YOUR PRACTICE
3:00 – 3.40pm
Dance artist Anthea McWilliams, resource organisation for participatory and collaborative practice – Create, and Tara Byrne highlight key approaches in communicating about and advocating for your work with funders, institutions and communities.

3:40 – 4pm
Plenary: some time to reflect on the issues of the day
