Writers Lab UK and Europe 2023, the only programme devoted exclusively to script development for women and nonbinary screenwriters over 40, is launching a new combined programme for writers based in the UK and all the countries of Europe.

Building on the success of our previous virtual Labs, this Lab will start in September 2023 and run until March 2024, with sessions focused on development and industry connections. The Writers Lab is excited to create a far-reaching and culturally inclusive community of unique voices reflecting the diversity of the populations across the UK and Europe.

Up to 15 writers will be selected to participate in this 6-month virtual programme. Applicants will need to be available for the 3-day virtual lab, regular meetings, and dedicated writing time.

Submissions of completed English language features and television pilot scripts (1-hour and ½-hour) will be accepted for consideration via online application.

The Writers Lab UK and Europe 2023 is currently supported by partners Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Screen Scotland, Northern Ireland Screen, The Austrian Film Institute, ORF, FISAplus – Film Industry Support Austria and Drehbuchforum Wien (Screenwriters Forum Vienna).

The Lab is in association with German Films, The Netherlands Film Fund, and Reclaim The Frame.

Submissions close on Wednesday 10th May.
