Are you a Black artist or artist of the global majority, who’s Irish or living in Ireland and in the early days of building your artistic career? Do you wish you could find other artists who have similar experiences of living in Ireland whom you can develop a network of support, have artistic conversations and build a community?

Weft, a Dublin Fringe Festival initiative focuses on talent development and network building for emerging and early career Black artists and artists of the global majority.

This year, applications are open for a group of eight artists to participate in Weft Studio from August 2023—February 2024, led by award-winning writer and creative producer Shannon Yee, with interventions from international mentors.

Who should apply? Artists early in their career with a desire to create bold, brave, cross-disciplinary performances, who want to develop their awareness about their creative practice and build community with an engaged network of peers along the way. Artists are invited from all performance disciplines (theatre, music, visual art, spoken word, dance, and everything in-between) of varying levels of experience with a willingness to explore something new.

Benefits include participating in an engaged community of other Black artists and artists of the global majority; financial support; studio sessions; masterclasses and discussion sessions; trips to Dublin Fringe Festival 2023 shows, and more.
