Applications Now Open for TDNI Bursaries to Baboró International Arts Festival for Children & Dance Umbrella
Theatre and Dance NI is offering two exceptional bursaries this October 2025 to help Northern Ireland-based artists and arts professionals attend leading international festivals:
Baboró International Arts Festival for Children – Galway, Ireland
Dance Umbrella – London, UK
Each bursary provides £500 to support travel, accommodation, and festival expenses, giving recipients the freedom to decide their own development experience.
Baboró International Arts Festival for Children – Closes 11pm Monday 8th September 2025

Baboró is Ireland’s flagship international arts festival dedicated to children and families, presenting world-class theatre, dance, music, and visual arts created especially for young audiences.
These bursaries are intended to support professional development by enabling recipients to experience the festival in a way that best suits their practice and interests. This could be attending performances, networking simply taking time to be inspired by Galway’s cultural scene.
Bursary details:
£500 per recipient to support travel, accommodation, and other associated expenses during the festival. You can choose what shows to see, events to attend, and how best to use your time at Baboró.
Eligibility:
- Artists, producers, or arts professionals based in Northern Ireland.
- Individuals with an interest in creating or producing work for children and young people.
- TDNI members (non-members can join here).

Dance Umbrella – Closes 11pm Monday 8th September 2025

Dance Umbrella is London’s international dance festival, taking place every October. Since 1978, it has been a vibrant international home for dance, presenting over 1,000 artists from 45 countries to more than one million people. The festival brings outstanding dance to over 145 venues across London – from iconic stages like Sadler’s Wells, Southbank Centre, and Barbican, to local arts centres, and even unique sites such as canal boats, ice rinks, and carpark rooftops.
This bursary is designed to help you experience this groundbreaking festival and engage with the international dance community.
Eligibility:
- TDNI members (non-members can join here).
- Those with an interest in creating, producing, or developing dance work and engaging with the global dance community.
